Lindsay Starck and Cheri Johnson at Content Bookstore

 —  —

Content Bookstore, 314 Division Street, Northfield, MN

I’ll be reading from my new novel Annika Rose alongside novelist Lindsay Starck, whose forthcoming novel Monsters We Have Made has this thrilling premise: “Thirteen years ago, Sylvia Gray’s young daughter, Faye, attacked her babysitter in order to impress the Kingman, a monster she and her best friend had encountered on the Internet. When the now twenty-three-year-old Faye goes missing, leaving her toddler behind, Sylvia launches a search that propels her back into the past and back into the Kingman’s orbit.” I can’t wait to get my hands on this book and to hear Lindsay read from it. And word on the street is that Lindsay and I will be introduced by Doug Green, one of the current Co-Poet Laureates of Northfield and author of the elegant and provocative collection Jumping the Median.

Cheri and Jennifer's Books & Treats Table at the Roosevelt Flea Market

 —  —

Roosevelt Arena, 17 2nd St, Roosevelt, MN

Every year when I was growing up in Lake of the Woods County in northern Minnesota, I went to the Roosevelt Flea Market on either July 3rd or 4th—sometimes both days. My grandpa was always there all day drinking coffee and smoking his pipe and my grandma often had a table where she sold her crafts and oil paintings. I always dreamed of having my own table at the market, and this year I will! Alongside one-of-my-best-friends-since-I-was-four Jennifer, whose homemade candies and wild-berry jams are divine, I’m looking forward to sitting back and talking with everyone who comes by, the way my grandparents used to do (I’ll also, of course, be selling and signing copies of my novels Annika Rose and The Girl in Duluth). Please stop by! The market is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both July 3rd and 4th.
