WHAT: Annika Rose Pre-publication Handmade Bookmark Giveaway

MORE WHAT: Get a bookmark handmade by yours truly to celebrate the publication of my forthcoming novel Annika Rose. I’ll number, date, and sign it on the back (I’ll even inscribe it if you’d like me to). It might not look exactly like these bookmarks, because I’ll get tired of drawing the same thing.

WHY: I love any excuse to draw and to go to the post office.

HOW: Send me a direct message via my contact page (https://cheribooksandmusic.com/contact). Let me know two things: 1.) the title of the book of a living author that you’ve read relatively recently; and 2.) an address you’d like me to send your bookmark to.

WARY: I promise I won’t put you on the mailing list for any catalogues.

Excited to be showing work this year at St. Paul Art Crawl with Charlie Conley!

Charlie and I are both writers and editors by trade. Art is a way to use our hands, see the world in a different way, and escape large blocks of text. In our visual work, we’re both drawn to brevity, simplicity, and open space.

Some of our musician friends might be wandering in from time to time to play in the studio and I’ll be handing out free hand-painted bookmarks to celebrate the upcoming publication of my new novel Annika Rose. Also, there will be SNACKS.

Please come help me celebrate the publication of my new novel Annika Rose at my favorite Twin Cities bookstore! Come early to pick up your copy and browse Eat My Words' fabulously eclectic collection of used books and books by local authors as well as pottery and art. I'll talk about the book, do a short reading, sign books, and then try my darndest to drag you to an after-party at the 331 Club across the street (Wednesday nights are KFAI’s House Party with Harold Tremblay—one of my favorite live music series in town).

Annika Rose won Red Hen Press’s 2022 Women’s Prose Prize. In Annika Rose, I re-tell the story of Rosemary’s Baby in northern Minnesota—with a kind of feminist twist. Though there’s no supernatural element in my novel, the story is told through the eyes of the weird and wild Annika Rose, one of my favorite characters I’ve ever created. I’m looking forward to sharing her with the world.
